Selecting a QPL listed product may also mean you are eligible for money-saving rebate from member utility companies! Contact your local utility company to see what type of rebates they offer for DLC compliant lamps and fixtures. First of all, you can purchase LED lamps and fixtures listed on the QLP knowing they meet their high standards.

The DLC regularly holds webinars and events to engage with our Members, lighting manufacturers, and other important lighting industry stakeholders. Find out what networked lighting controls can do for your facility while saving up to 50% more energy than LED lighting alone. The DLC released LUNA V1.0 in December and began accepting applications from solid-state lighting (SSL) manufacturers interested in qualifying their products in April. Eighteen specific 3000K models, of the XSPW Version B Wall Mount Luminaire manufactured by Cree Lighting, are the first outdoor LED products published on the DLC’s LUNA QPL following testing of product performance and attributes by an accredited lab and rigorous review by DLC staff.

Learn how you can contribute to policy development, join a DLC committee, qualify your products, or simply stay up to date with our latest efforts the DLC. The DLC is on a mission to optimize commercial lighting by saving energy, improving product quality, and enhancing the end-user experience in the built environment. Our initiatives revolve around the creation of trusted requirements to ensure that qualified lighting technologies are both high quality and energy efficient.

Energy Solutions. Climate Impact. Better Lighting.

As an independent non-profit organization, the DesignLights Consortium (DLC) provides decision makers with data and resources on quality lighting, controls, and integrated building systems to reduce energy, carbon, and light pollution. We envision a net zero future where lighting, controls, and integrated building systems enable energy savings, decarbonization, and sustainability for all people and the environment. The DLC’s Horticultural QPL currently contains more than 400 products, with more being reviewed and added regularly. An increasing number of electric utilities rely on the DLC horticultural lighting specification and QPL in the design of energy efficiency programs for commercial cultivators.

If a product meets the Design Lights Consortium's criteria, it can be added to the QLP, which you can access and search online. Products are searchable by keyword, manufacturer, or criteria such as efficacy, wattage, CCT, CRI, category, dimming criteria, and much more. Complete Qualified Products List downloads are available to DLC Members, and stakeholders with an active annual API or paid data access subscription. We signed the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice pledge, and joined the coalition of leaders working together to advance action toward a just energy transition for Black and Brown communities.

Most of us, Apogee staff members are musicians or have an extensive background in video, live performance, or the professional recording industry. We are a team of creative professionals who share a passion for excellence, creativity, and innovation. Our sunny Santa Monica office features a fully built out studio for recording, live streaming, and live events which is available to the staff to further their craft, experiment, and enjoy on off hours. The DLC stands for the DesignLights Consortium™ -- a partnership of energy efficiency stakeholders throughout the US and Canada that "promotes quality, performance, and energy efficient commercial sector lighting solutions." DLC has updated our mission and vision statements to expand our focus beyond lighting quality and our goals beyond saving energy.

DesignLights Consortium®

There are currently 78 members of the Design Lights Consortium that include regional, state, utility and energy efficiency programs. Some of DLC's members include Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PG&E), Georgia Power, Alliant Energy, Hawaii Energy, Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance, Efficiency Nova Scotia, and Electric Utility Marketing Managers of Texas. Additionally, they work with lighting manufacturers, designers, and other involved in the industry. The DLC is a consortium built on the expertise of our team, our efficiency program members, and our industry stakeholders.

Guidance for Submitting Horticultural Product Images

It’s our goal to provide a trusted, impartial assessment of the industry’s highest performing lighting products and systems to boost consumer trust and adoption of the technologies that save the most energy. In addition to meeting the DLC’s SSL V5.1 efficacy thresholds, LUNA-qualified products must comply with additional dimming, control and shielding requirements to ensure efficient use of lighting energy. For various reasons, from high initial costs to inadequate training and unfamiliarity with the technology, energy saving networked lighting controls (NLC) have yet to catch on in a significant way. In fact, the Department of Energy reports that less than one percent of all commercial luminaires in the US are equipped with NLCs. Brainstorming and planning ways to reverse that trend comprised the agenda of the DesignLights Consortium’s (DLC) Controls Summit in September. The meeting drew nearly 100 lighting manufacturers, installers, utilities, and other stakeholders to Detroit, Michigan, a city that has committed to cut carbon emissions in its built environment in half by 2030.

We are committed to the belief that the problems facing our planet and society can be solved through innovation, common sense and education. Sustainability is at the core of everything we do—from our factory in Los Angeles to our fabrics, packaging, and retail stores. We’re committed to pushing the industry forward and investing in future-focused solutions, which is why we’re a certified Climate Neutral company and will be Climate Positive by 2025. According to the US DOE, the annual electricity consumption of all indoor US horticultural installations in 2017 was 5.9 TWh – approximately equal to the annual usage of more than half a million US households. With energy consumption from horticultural facilities continuing to grow, we’re creating tools and resources to position controlled environment agriculture as a leader in energy efficiency. In partnership with the US Department of Energy (DOE) and DLC Member utilities, the DLC developed a series of case studies to showcase networked lighting controls, results, and lessons learned.

We put data to work for our clients, using it to fuel creative production strategies that drive serious revenue. We work with some of the fastest growing eCommerce companies in the world including Barstool Sports, MrBeast Burger, Call Her Daddy, Homefield Apparel, and SiriusXM. We’re dedicated to improving the lives of healthcare professionals by creating innovative, comfortable and functional medical apparel. FIGS is transforming the healthcare experience by empowering and celebrating the healthcare community and creating medical apparel that ensures they look their best, feel their best and perform at their best.

Together, we’re driving product performance and consumer trust to save energy, improve quality, and enhance our experience in the built environment. DLC has added more products to our LUNA QPL, continuing to double down on light pollution mitigation to support ecosystems and human communities while still reducing energy consumption. Ecosystem-level harm is preventable with more education and quality alternatives for outdoor lighting. This year, we’re working toward a standard and requirements for amber outdoor lights for the most sensitive environments.

There are nearly 300 lighting ordinances in the U.S. alone and growing interest in making better choices regarding light pollution and keeping our skies dark for human health and wellness, views of the night sky, and protection of our natural ecosystems. The market transformation of LEDs has had a tremendous impact on energy efficiency over the last decade. Department of Energy (DOE) data and our team’s analysis, commercial and industrial buildings in the U.S. and Canada saved approximately 1,000 TWh of energy from 2010 to 2022 thanks to the transition to LED lighting technology. The DLC is committed to improving energy efficiency for commercial lighting throughout North America, and to making a positive climate impact worldwide.
